In early spring the azalea bloom and there are two spots that are particularly famous for this flower. On the south east shore is the Odakyu Hotel de Yama, originally built in 1948 by a member of the Iwasaki family who founded Mitsubishi. This Lake Ashi shoreside comes alive with vivid colors of red, pink, and white.

Across the street from the Mikawaya ryokan in Kowakien is a garden started in 1909 as a garden to the ryokan. It is now an open park with many azalea planted around.
