From Late March to Early April Japan`s famed cherry blossoms bloom. There is a large difference in altitude in Hakone so the cherry blossom season is stretched a bit longer here. The Hayakawa river in Miyagino has over 150 cherry trees spanning 600 meters along the riverside path. This area is also lit at night from 18:00 to 21:00. Hakone Yumoto also has a fair number of trees located in the area with traditional ryokan serving as backdrops. Sakura also bloom naturally in the mountains of Hakone and you can see the distinct blooms from the Hakone Tozan train or when making your way up the mountain.
