Mt. Taikan Lookout

Update:2021.02.24

The Mt. Taikan lookout sits at a height of 1015m and gives you a 360 degree view that includes Mt. Fuji, the Hakone mountains, Lake Ashi, the Miura Peninsula near Kamakura, and even the Japanese Southern Alps on clear days. The view to the east includes Oshima Island, the Boso Peninsula, and Sagami Bay. The lookout is located next to the Anest Iwada Sky Lounge and Turnpike. This area is popular with motorists taking a break from one of the many leisurely mountain road rides in the area. The observatory is at a high elevation and exposed to the wind so temperatures can be quite lower than other parts of Hakone. The view is particularly popular at sunrise and sunset for the views of the sun rising over the Pacific Ocean or setting with Mt. Fuji in the background.
