Hot Springs of Hakone

The main characteristic of Hakone’s hot springs is the diverse variety of hot springs available in proximity. Each of these hot springs is richly distinctive from the other with different types of water-quality and offers unique effectiveness.

Regular Hot Springs and Basic Alkaline Hot Springs

These hot springs are less inclined to have adverse side effects on children, the elderly, or those people of a delicate constitution. These hot springs are known for the water of comparatively little stimulation. Whilst taking into account that these springs have a minimal quantity of those mineral substances to be found in other hot springs, the gradual and steady effect is still produced over a period of time. An exfoliating property will induce your skin to be smooth and silky because of the alkaline component of PH 7.5 or more (weak or strong).

Effects;

Muscle pain, rheumatoid arthritis, lower back pain, neuralgia, bruising, sprains, chills, poor digestion, dispelling fatigue, mild hypertension, mild cases of high cholesterol, sleeping disorder, depression.

These symptoms can be alleviated to promote a general sense of well-being.

Hot springs with Chloride

These are hot springs containing a composition much the same as seawater, being transparent and colorless. While bathing, salt adheres to the body and has the effect of generating warmth

by inhibiting the evaporation of sweat. These hot springs are said to be beneficial for those suffering from chills by preventing the body from losing heat. In addition, the bactericidal effects of the salt have given these springs a reputation for being effective for wounds. Indeed, one can achieve even silkier skin tones by immersion  in an alkaline bath called  “baths for beautiful skin (Bihada no Yu).”

Effects;
abrasions and cuts, poor circulation, chills, depression, dryness of the skin.

Hot springs with Hydrogen Carbonate

The calcium and magnesium content of these particular hot springs results in a general calming effect while reducing inflammation and the possibility of convulsion. They are also said to be beneficial for allergies—chronic skin conditions, and hives. These springs’ water also has a quality of softening the skin’s surface, which is generally regarded as good for burns and cuts. Furthermore, the skin’s excess oils and other secretions are washed away by the emulsifying quality of the water. The skin is left well cleansed. One of the “baths of the beautiful (Bijin no yu).”

abrasions, and cuts, circulation disorders

When people hear of sulfur springs, it is immediately associated with the smell of boiled eggs that have gone off. Despite its unwelcome reputation,  sulfur hot springs offer many efficacious benefits. Generally speaking, the skin is made soft, and in particular, Ubakko hot springs help to dissolve excess keratin. They have gained a reputation for their efficacy against keratosis, chronic eczema, lichenification of the skin, as well as parasites like scabies.
