The Komagatake Ropeway is one of two ropeways in the Hakone area. This ropeway takes you from the shores of Lake Ashi up to the main central peak in Hakone for views of Fuji, surrounding area, and a visit to the mountain top shrine. 

The Komagatake Ropeway ride starts near the Prince Hotel on Lake Ashi. The 7 minute ride to the top will be overlooking Lake Ashi and the surrounding mountains. Access to Prince Hotel is a boat ride, bus, or 20 minute walk from Moto-Hakone.

The Komagatake ropeway takes you to the highest peak in Hakone. This mountain has been revered and worshipped for centuries in the indigenous Shinto religion. You may also visit the Hakone Shrine while you are in the area, it is believed that the shrine at the top of Komagatake was one of the founding shrines of the Hakone Shrine when a number of shrines in the area were collected on the shores of Lake Ashi.

The view from the top of Komagatake is one of the best in the area. You can see Fuji, the Pacific Ocean, and even Tokyo on a really clear day! The ropeway takes you to a height of 1,783 meters in 7 minutes. There are also hiking trails available for the more energetic and adventurous.
