The Yosegi Village
"Hatajuku" is located in the southern part of Hakone. During the Warring States Period(1467-1568),Hatajuku was an important point for travelers crossing Hakone. The villagers built the cobblestones that remain in the vicinity in Hatajuku under orders from the Shogunate for peoples crossing Hakone."
"Hatajuku" is also the birthplace of Hakone-Yosegi-Zaiku, which is one of Japan's traditional crafts born 200 years ago. Today, there are many Hakone-Yosegi-Zaiku related facilities : workshops, hands-on workshop, and museums, including the "Hatajuku Yosegi Kaikani Hall".
